WHAT IS CROSSFIT?

CrossFit is a core strength and conditioning program that can be practiced by anyone. 

The CrossFit methodology incorporates functional movements that are natural, effective and efficient. Movements that mimic what is required in everyday life. 

At CrossFit Narlie our program will typically include modalities such as:

- Bike, run, row

- Weightlifting (power and Olympic)

- Strength training 

- Gymnastics

These modalities will be practised in a constantly varied structure which can better prepare an individual for random physical challenges. Each day our workout is different so you will never get bored with the same old routine. 

All our workouts can be adapted to an individuals ability and level of experience. Whether you have never stepped into a gym before or have years of experience, you will fit right in at CrossFit Narlie.

CrossFit Narlie is a friendly and welcoming place that offers a safe environment to practice CrossFit. It is a place where you can create the best version of yourself, and have fun doing it. Each member of CrossFit Narlie becomes a part of the Narlie community, a community that encourages and supports each other on their fitness journey.

We provide a service that educates and empowers people to move safely whilst having fun. We give them the fuel to thrive in life and feel connected to each other at the same time. We form a social connection for likeminded people who want to make real change towards a healthier, more vibrant lifestyle through good nutrition and movement.
Established in 2018, CrossFit Narlie’s owners and head trainers Nathan and Carlie, husband and wife, share their passion for health and fitness.
Coach Carlie has been in the industry since 2009. Starting out initially as a personal trainer, Carlie discovered CrossFit in 2011 and quickly discovered her passion for this fitness methodology. While coaching and training CrossFit, Carlie ventured into the competitive side of CrossFit competing in the 2013 and 2015 Australian CrossFit Regionals. 
Coach Nathan discovered CrossFit in 2014 and is a passionate believer in a holistic approach to one’s well-being.
Today, both Nathan and Carlie, continue to grow their passion for health and fitness and continue to guide many towards a better ‘fitter’ version of themselves. They achieve this by adopting a holistic approach incorporating CrossFit’s methodology with a focus on strength and conditioning, nutrition and recovery.
We at CrossFit Narlie believe that fitness is not a hobby, but a way of life. We founded our gym to be the second home for all of our members. We established CrossFit Narlie to bring like minded people together on their journey towards their fitness goals. 

We hope to create an environment that has a welcoming community feel to it as well somewhere you feel encouraged, motivated and supported.

I have been a member of CrossFit Narlie for over 2 years now. I absolutely love CrossFit and the community it has. I really do enjoy the variety of workouts that CrossFit provides to push yourself further. Throughout my childhood I was very active playing sports and in my teenage years I was a beach sprinter at the Tugun Surf Club. But having a young family I stopped exercising and didn't have the motivation to exercise. I then decided that my goal was to be fit by 40. Coach Carlie has been fantastic in pushing me to achieve this goal. I am the fittest I have been since my teenage years and I have CrossFit Narlie to thank for that. I highly recommend CrossFit Narlie and the community it has.

I started Crossfit after hearing about it through friends of mine. It sounded like something I would be in to. I had never liked using conventional gyms in the past and had been to too many fitness classes over the years. I was always frustrated with the lack of foundational training involved in going to other classes. Having good form and doing proper movements always seemed to come second to doing as many reps as possible as fast as possible. Usually with weights too heavy for the skill level involved. CrossFit is the exact opposite. When starting out proper form was coached and weight not introduced until you can perform a movement safely under repetition. There is a big emphasis on warming up properly before every session making sure your body is actually ready to perform the workout of the day. Also warming down and stretching after each session to help prevent injury.
The workouts are scaled to suit every skill level. It's all about becoming just a little bit better than you were yesterday and not about being the fastest or strongest. One of the best things I like about Crossfit Narlie is there are no egos like many other conventional gyms you’ll go to. Everyone is there to improve on their own skill level and fitness. If you want to improve on your current level of strength and fitness then I highly recommend giving it a try. After even just a few months you’ll feel stronger and have more energy than you ever had before. I’m a morning person and it’s just a great start to the day.

I've been CrossFitting for the last three years or so and with CrossFit Narlie ever since they begun. I'm young middle-ager and pretty determined to keep moving well for many years yet. Training with the Narlie crew is important to me to be strong, fit and mobile and to provide a healthy balance to all else that goes on in my life, including busy work periods and staying in front of my two growing boys in all forms of competition. :D I'm grateful for the support and advice the coaches freely give and to the vibe around the place that the help create - full of fine, different folk, who are ego-less and work hard, while having a bit of fun along the way.

I have been doing CrossFit style training for a few years now. I was never a very athletic person when I was younger and did not know much about CrossFit when I started. I like the fact that there is something different every day and I just turn up and the workout is already laid out. I would never have even tried a lot of the things I can do at CrossFit if it was just up to me. Even if I am the last one finished or have the lightest weights, every time I finish a workout I feel good about myself. As I get older it helps keep me fit, flexible and I even get to master new things. The Narlie coaches have me doing things I never thought I was capable of. 
There is a really lovely supportive, community feel across the diverse members at the gym, open and welcoming with lots of fun banter. 
The coaches at Narlie are very knowledgeable and supportive of every individual. They take their time to explain and demonstrate moves, especially for new people. They know what each person is capable of and push you to do your best, but they also know your limitations and restrictions and come up with personal modifications that suit your particular needs when you need it.
